Rick Springfield
I tuned in today to watch Oprah. I had not watched in awhile or paid attention to commercials so it was a great surprise to see Rick Springfield on the show. I have always been a big fan of Rick Springfield. In the 80’s Rick Springfield was my Taylor Hicks and Bucky Covington of today. I heard every song he song, bought every album, which I still own today any show Rick was in or even today if I know he is going to be on a show or in a movie I watch that movie strictly because Rick Springfield is in it.
He still is as hot and talented as ever. So today Rick Springfield is my artist choice. The rest of this week I will cover some of my idols from the 80s. My husband and family have been saying that I will get Taylor Hicks and Bucky Covington out of system soon but I always knew that wasn’t so, and now that I think back to my teenage years and all the musicians who touched my life with their songs and how to this day I still follow their careers to some extent and always watch them when they are on tv., I know that 20 years down the line I will still be listening to Taylor Hicks and Bucky Covington and following their careers and admiring them just like I do with all my past idols.
Songs create memories. Practically every song we hear makes a lasting impression in our hearts and minds for some reason or another. We may not always get attached to the singer of the song but when that happens that just makes the importance of the song and the singer that much more important. People touch our lives in many different ways. Whether it is family, friends, co-workers and yes even musicians. Trying to explain how or why they touch your soul and make you care about them and want to see them succeed is not an easy thing to explain. They just do. I always hear they don’t know you, they don’t care about you they are just out to make money. Well yeah of course they are but they care about their fans because without fans where would they be? It isn’t important that they personally know or personally acknowledge their fans it is just important that they continue to please the fans by giving us songs that will touch that part deep inside us and create memories we will forever remember.
Below you find some pictures and video of Rick Springfield. Enjoy!

Bucky Covington - -- Lifes Been Good by the Eagles
Sunday Bucky Town USA alerted us to a piece about Bucky in the Hudson Hub Times. In the piece a new tattoo was mentioned, Bucky said People treat him differently since his success, he said.
"In fact, tomorrow I'm going to be getting a tattoo right here [pointing to the inside of his forearm] that says 'Everybody's different, but I'm still the same.' It's a line from a song I can really understand."
So I searched for the phrase Everybody's different, but I'm still the same and found the song Bucky was talking about. Life's Been good To Me.
It is a great video by Joe Wash Eagles. It is perfect example to of a band loving the Live experience. But the song I am sure fits for most famous people. Correction probably all of them. I remember this song I have always loved it but I never thought about the lyrics until Bucky mentioned it.
Fame as its great upsides everyone loves to show off their talent and have people adore them for it however I am sure it also had to be kinda crazy. Bucky is still the same person he was before he walked on the American Idol stage and before Mark Miller realized the great talent that is Bucky Covington.
One day you can go anywhere you want and no one knows who you are than the next day in the blink of an eye everyone knows who you are and those who did not like you before all of the sudden become your best friends or want to become your best friends. It has to all be kind of strange. A fun and great kind of strange but strange never the less.
Ok now I am just rambling on. Here is the video. Does anyone else think it would be great to hear Bucky and the band cover this song. Umm Gallia County Fair July 31st would be a great time to do it.

Outdoor Concerts Rock in any Genre
I love summer and I love it for many reasons from camping and hiking to cookouts and swimming. However, the main reason I look forward to summer is outdoor concerts. Outdoor concerts rock in any genre from oldies and gospel to rock and country. Each spring I start looking for the fairs and festivals near me that I can attend.
We have attended concerts at fairs and/or festivals to see Chubby Checker twice, Mike Albert ( Elvis impersonator), Tracey Lawrence, Joana Lee White, Bucky Covington twice last summer once this summer with another coming up July 31st and we are also going to see Luke Bryan, Sammy Kershaw and Tracy Byrd this August.
I love the outdoor concert experience. Nothing is more enjoyable then sitting outside in a lawn chair or on a blanket under the setting sun or under the stars and listening to some great music. Of course getting up to dance along is also great fun.
My first concert was Mike Albert. He may be an Elvis impersonator but he is a great talent and the concert was a lot of fun. Our next concert was Chubby Checker, the man who made dancing apart famous with the song The Twist. Chubby is still able to attract a huge crowd and keep them entertained and on their feet.
It is great to be outside in the fresh air and have some leg room and plenty of room to get up and dance if you choose. I also think the acoustics are better outside than in any building.
Last year I started becoming a fan of Country music star Bucky Covington, immediately I started looking for festivals and fairs he might be at. We saw him at the Ross County fair in Chillicothe Ohio, a storm came through and the concert had to be canceled but Bucky the real trooper that he is came into the bleachers and sang acoustic for the fans who weathered the storm to just catch a glimpse of him. Even with getting soaked and hiding in the grandstand through thunder and lightning that experience is one I will always remember as one of my best concert experiences. Weather did not stop devoted fans from waiting around to see if they would get to hear Bucky or at least get a autograph and it did not stop Bucky Covington from making it a point to see to it that the concert goers got to hear him perform as they had hoped for.
We then went to Dayton Ohio and saw Bucky again at the Mountain Days festival. It was a beautiful and sunny day. Mountain Days is held at Eastland Lake Park. The park is beautiful and in the middle of the woods. We got there and there were hay bales set up all around for people to sit on to enjoy the concert or you could bring your own lawn chair. There was cold pop and beer for sale and hot buttered corn on the cob. Nothing says country more than sitting on a hay bale in the woods drinking a beer and eating corn on the cob while listening to some great country/rock music.
This year I have started my concert going already. Of course Bucky Covington was our first concert this year. We went to the Festival of the Bells in Hillsboro Ohio for this concert. It was another perfect day for a outdoor concert being that it was Bucky Covington was a great plus. I cannot wait to enjoy the other outdoor concerts this summer.

Bucky Elvis Duet
I interviewed Bucky Covington April 5th of 2007. During the interview I asked him about Duets he might like to do.
Bucky - Umm that's tuff. I don't know. Kid Rock would be cool. Elvis (laughs)
CW - That might be tuff. (Laughing)
Bucky - Yea, With today's technology it could happen.(laughs) That's a tuff one though. I'm not sure. Too many people on the list really.
So then he Dayton Ohio I heard Bucky sings Elvis's Suspicious Minds and loved it. Remembering his answer to my question I decided i would try and use my amateur technology and create a Bucky Elvis Duet. July 5th in Hillsboro I gave Bucky a DVD of it. So if yu haven't saw Bucky and Elvis here it is
