Jimmy Buffett

Jimmy Buffett is a perfect example of someone who loves the “Live” audience and the audience loves Jimmy Buffett. Jimmy began his musical career in Nashville, Tennessee during the late 1960s as a country artist. He then moved to Key West and lived the easy-going lifestyle of a beach bum persona for which he is known.

During the 1980s, Jimmy made far more money off his tours than albums and became known as a popular concert draw, which still holds true today. Jimmy continues to tour throughout the year although he now has a more relaxed schedule of around 20-30 dates, and rarely on back-to-back nights, he prefers to play only on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Jimmy Buffett’s devoted fan base is known as the “ParrottHeads”. The ParrottHeads party with a purpose, and they hold fundraiser events for different causes. Events range from single act concerts or happy hours to the annual Meeting of the Minds in Key West, Florida, which attracts approximately 3,500 Parrottheads each year. The several days of events, sponsored by the Parrot Heads in Paradise includes live music, and also a Toys for Tots drive, a blood drive, raffles and other events to raise money for charities. Some regional groups will focus on one or two key charities, while others may switch between several. They also help environmental causes, cancer research, Alzheimer's research and the March of Dimes all have received large donations from ParrottHead organizations. The fan base is as devoted to helping others as they are to Jimmy Buffett.
Of the over 30 albums Jimmy Buffett has released, as of October, 2007, he has 8 Gold Albums and 9 Platinum or Multi Platinum Albums. In 2003 Jimmy won his first ever County Music Award (CMA) for his song "It's 5 O'clock Somewhere" with Alan Jackson, and has been nominated again in 2007 for the CMA Event of the Year Award for his song "Hey Good Lookin" which features Alan Jackson and George Strait.
Jimmy Buffetts concerts are so popular that purchasing tickets is difficult with most of his concerts selling out in minutes. See below for the Videos “Hey Good Lookin” and a live performance of “Margaritaville”.
