Just a Nutty Song about ACNE

If you go looking for silly videos you get what you ask for. I typed acne in you tube just being silly. Sure enough a video came up with some guy singing about pimples. I have officially almost heard it all now. This is a video that would defiantly not regularly make the Live Mic circuit. But since I thought it was so crazy to actually see someone sang and posted a video about zits I might as well share it with you. The guy’s voice isn’t too bad. Just pick a different subject dude.

Music Memory Cards

Well it looks like we will soon have another way to enjoy our music. Cassette tapes replaced 8-tracks and then came CD’s which replaced vinyl albums. Now it looks like CD’s may soon be replaced by memory cards. In a report by the Associated Press on September 21st it states in part that “SanDisk Corp., four major record labels and retailers Best Buy Co. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. are hoping that albums sold on microSD memory cards will at least provide an additional stream of sales. The companies were expected to unveil plans Monday to sell memory cards loaded with music in the MP3 format, free of copy protections.”

So soon you may be able to go into a store and purchase a SD Card with the newest album of your choice on it and there will also be room to had music from your own collection. To read more about this go here.

Concerts

Today I want to talk about the Live concert experience. I love to go a concert. If it is an outdoor concert it is even better. I especially love to go see country music artists in concert. These are usually outdoors at fairs, festivals and such. I am planning to see Bucky Covington and Luke Bryan in concert in October and in December I will be traveling to see Taylor Hicks in Grease as Teen Angel at the Palace Theater. Guess I better check into getting travel insurance because I am going out of state to see Bucky and Luke and a few hours trip away to see Taylor. Below you will find a clip of each artist singing a song from a concert. There is a Clip of Taylor Hicks as Teen Angel and also during the curtain call.

CCR - Cover Songs

Let’s talk about cover songs. There are many songs that just are songs that are so universal that many singers love to sing the song during concerts. Some also record a different version of a old song. Sometimes this is a good thing sometimes it is bad. Sometimes it just simply makes more great versions or a great song. For now let’s talk about CDL opps I mean CCR (Creedence Clearwater Revival) sorry have other things on my mind. My husband is taking CDL training. Anyway CCR’s Fortunate Son is a song that has been covered by some greats.

Red Red Wine

I have been thinking of what decade in music to cover for awhile. Or for that matter what song. Today I was looking for a site that offers a wine of the month club for a friend and one of the sites had the song “Red, Red Wine” by UB40playing. I have always liked this song very much but had forgotten about it until I stumbled onto the site playing it in the background.

Red Red Wine was originally by Neil Diamond but in 1984 UB40 covered it and in 1998 it was a number one hit. Neil’s version hit number 63 in 1968.
Below you will find the UB40 hit and also the original by Neil Diamond.

Music from Jubilee

The march toward Jubilee's first album began in January with the release of the “Rebel Hiss” single and a tour of Europe . It continued in August and September with the release of another single from the LA based band, “In With The Out Crowd,” and a second tour of Europe . Each single contains three exclusive B-sides unavailable on any other release, including their upcoming album. These are available as immediate digital downloads direct from the band at http://Jubilee.la.

The derelicts responsible for all of this noise are Aaron North on vocals and guitar (Nine Inch Nails, Buddyhead, The Icarus Line), Michael Shuman on vocals and bass (Queens of the Stone Age, Wires On Fire), Jeff Lynn on guitar and organ (Wires On Fire), and Troy Petrey on drums (The Icarus Line).

The guest drummers on this latest release (the band chose to record all of their songs with different "skin-beaticians") include:

Julian Gross (Liars)

Nick Jago (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club)

Trent Reznor on programmed drums (Nine Inch Nails)

Maynard James Keenan (The band made an exception to the rule on this one. Keenan didn't play drums, but sang on "I Don't Have An Excuse, I Just Need A Little Help”)

After concluding the tour, the band will mix and master their first full-length album, which will include even more guests on the drum-stool, such as:

Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters)

Joey Castillo ( Queens of the Stone Age)

Carla Azar (Autolux)

Josh Freese (Devo, A Perfect Circle , Nine Inch Nails)

Kevin Haskins (Bauhaus, Love & Rockets, Tones On Tail)

Josh Homme ( Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal)

Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters)

Shinedown

I found another group that is someone you all should check out. Some of you may already know their music but they are new to me so I know it is the same for others as well. Shinedown has a third album out The Sound of Madness. I had never heard of them before but I am so glad to have discovered them now. I am not saying they are my favorite group but I do like some of their music and my son loves them. Their first album is Leave a Whisper from 2003 it has gone platinum and their second album Us and Them from 2005 went gold.

Friday September 5th Shinedown was on the Jay Leno Show performing the song Second Chance from their new album The Sound of Madness. They did amazingly well and I am sure made some new fans. The video from Jay Leno is below.

You can visit Shinedowns site to get more information on shinedown concerts that may be in your area. Well there be sure and look at the shinedown photos that are there.
I have found so many great musicians and bands just from exploring the internet. It is such a great idea for musicians to use the net to help promote them, such as MySpace, FaceBook and YouTube videos. Below are a couple videos I think you may enjoy.
